TONY ZAGORAIOS Great album. Such a nice atmosphere and the melodies through the whole album, keeps your imterest to the higher level. Also really nice addition over there, with the female vocals and background texture/pads. Favorite track: Somnium II.

hector This album came as a pleasant surprise to me. We All Die! What A Circus's former albums have been too droney for my taste. This time the guitar is more dominant and I love it, especially the three first songs. Favorite track: Effugium I.

about

"Effugium III" is featured on the compilation "Flama - The Best of Portuguese Post-Rock, 2017" by Planeta Post-Rock.
planetapostrock.bandcamp.com/album/flama

"Somnium paints the world of dreams, its vaporous and ethereal notes. Effugium paints the escape, from his energetic and intense guitars. The balance between the two atmospheres, at the crossroads of ambient and post-rock, is cleverly dosed. From melancholy to a gradual flight to an unknown but irresistibly attractive place. The melodies of guitars are beautiful. The whole filled with a sensitivity that carries emotion."

"Somnium Effugium is the soundtrack that accompanies us in this state that oscillates between the oneiric and the real, with the songs titled Somnium marked by a rather restless ambient. The episodes called Effugium are more oriented to post rock, and as such bearers of splendid guitar melodies veined with a profound melancholy."

"All Somnium pieces are pervaded by an ethereal, melancholy thread that draws you into the infinity of dream worlds. Effugium pieces, on the other hand, are the counterpart - driving progressive songs with an energetic playing on the guitar. Somehow, the Portuguese manages perfectly to strike an ideal balancing act between aggressiveness and melancholy."

Recorded between March and September, 2017.
The album is about the dream of escaping ("Somnium") and the escape itself ("Effugium"). In this world of borders and ruins, both on the inside and the outside, the need to escape is inevitable.
